As the ‘90s arrived Atlanta ranked among the top U.S. cities in black businesses and black homeownership. The city also saw an expansion of residents moving and working outward to nearby suburbs, all while the city’s population was booming.
With Atlanta securing its place as a tourist destination, business and commerce hub and internationally-recognized community the ever ambitious Marvin Arrington set his sites high in representing the city he helped to transform. In 1997 he decided to run for Mayor.
